Each greenhouse is completely self-sufficient, harvesting rainwater and the solar energy to power one grow light. Although this installation is site-specific, the mobile gardens may be installed on temporary vacant sites throughout the city. Demountable and mobile, the greenhouses can be erected on any hardscape, contaiminated or poor soil conditions. Within a few hours, the greenhouses can be ready for planting, ready to take full advantage of our cold grey winters to extend our growing season. Installation includes connecting the fabric gutters to the water cistern, installing the solar grow light, filling the off-print plastic bulk bags with soil, and the greenhouse is ready for planting. When the children arrive to plant and work the soil, the greenhouse fabric can be pulled up, and wrapped about the volleyball pole support structure temporarily and then reinstalled as when the children are finished with their work for the day.
